Paste or type a position and see it at once in degrees and decimal minutes, degrees-minutes-seconds and decimal degrees – for charts, plotters, radio and map apps.
Type or paste, latitude first – as decimal degrees, degrees and minutes, or degrees, minutes and seconds. Spaces are fine instead of ° ′ ″.
Aboard, degrees and decimal minutes are the standard: charts, plotters and GPS show 54°19.398′ N, and that is how a position is passed over the radio. Degrees, minutes and seconds appear on land maps and in older documents, decimal degrees in map apps. One minute of latitude is one nautical mile, so 0.001′ is just under 2 m.
